Mobile medical vehicles – EMS chemotherapy trailer
Working closely with EMS Healthcare an existing trailer design was adapted to suit the precise needs of cancer charity Tenovus.

This mobile chemotherapy unit was adapted from an existing EMS Voyage trailer design and converted into a highly successful outreach unit operated in South Wales by cancer charity Tenovus. It features twin nesting pods, flat floor, internal partitioning and a feature entrance with passenger lift access.
Intended to take the service to patients in remote communities and save them from travelling long distances to regional centres, the trailer performs a variety of functions. These include delivery of chemotherapy treatment, patient counselling in private areas and general education for patients, families and the wider community.
With on board generator, air conditioning, plumbing to meet NHS specifications, toilet and private meeting areas, the trailer is fully self contained to visit surgeries, community centres and outlying hospitals on a regular basis, acting also as a social hub for those requiring treatment and their families.
The trailer also has roof mounted satellites for data and television reception so the care providers can be in touch with patients’ notes held elsewhere and patients are kept entertained while their treatment is being administered.
It’s a good example of how a relatively rural part of the country can receive outstanding health care on their doorstep.
