This is the latest in a series of trailers produced during the past 20 years for the Business Recovery division of IBM.

The podded unit provides a flexible floorspace for IBM to load their modular computer racking to take to customers experiencing hardware failure.

The on board generator is acoustically treated to an exceptional level, whilst the air conditioning is ducted through the floor to ensure the rack equipment is kept at an optimum operating temperature.

ICW POWER
Floor space was the overriding necessity for ICW Power, who needed a unit to house a large quantity of server racks on a semi permanent basis. Cosby Suppliers adapted existing expansion designs to create a trailer with about 100m² of floor area. The huge heat output created an air conditioning challenge, but this was overcome by the use of several smaller units housed under the trailer, within a specially created ceiling void and on the trailer neck. A second trailer provided power support complete with an enormous 360kva generator, UPS system and switchgear.

BURTON COLLEGE
Producing a mobile IT classroom was an unusual use of a normal passenger bus, but its low floor height, 7500kg gross weight and on board power has been a successful combination for Burton College, particularly in rural areas, where access to the internet can be patchy.

The unit features an on board generator, air conditioning, customised workstations, teaching resources and network cabling. Internet connection is obtained by means of a mobile phone link, but recently the availability of cost effective up and down stream satellite connections is an increasingly popular alternative.
